I'm Praying For You.

"I'm praying for you"

I've said those words a whole lot. I've promised my prayer to lots of folks and lots of circumstances and situations, but so many times I hear myself promising that, and a week or two later, I think of them again and realize that not once have I even mentioned their name to my Father! Chances are, if I've told you lately that I'm praying for you, I probably haven't and I'm sorry. I really am. But I've decided something important. That changes today. That changes now. My God is too big, too strong, and too mighty to not ask him to move mountains for you.

We have God's word that he WILL answer us when we call. (Matthew 7:7). If we knock, he opens the door. If we look, we will find. Faith, faith faith! All we need is faith. (Heb 11:1) We don't have to see him but we can have confidence that our father is there, and eagerly listening to us. We don't have to know when, where, or how his answer will come, but we can count it as good as done through faith. Faith is our assurance that God will answer, somehow, some way, someday.  The prayer of faith is powerful (James 5:16), and from now on I intend to use it. My God is just a prayer away, and I'm finished being away.

And so, I have embarked on an adventure in prayer, and I invite you to come along. Come with me. Lets change how we pray. First, let's stop saying "I'm praying for you" unless you really mean to do it. Then, let's make a list of the people and situations we've promised to pray for and talk with God about them...every day. Sounds simple huh? Well, Here's where the real challenge comes. Let's not forget that the people that we're praying for need to remember that we've got their backs. Let's check up on our people and see how God has answered our prayers.

This is what I promise to do. I can't remember to pray for everybody just yet, but I promise to pray for the people here on my own little list. I believe it's better to fervently pray for a couple of folks at a time than to promise to pray for oodles and oodles and just plain forget. So, if I don't tell you I'm praying for you, please don't take offense, but if I tell you I'm praying for you, I'm serious. I'll be on my knees and I'll be checking to see If God has answered just yet. I always intend to mean what I say and say what I mean, but from now on, I intend to pray what I mean and mean what I pray too.

This is my adventure in prayer. Do you what to come along? Start your own list. Start your own prayer. Let's pray for real and for serious. Let's talk with our father like we really think he's standing right here. You know that verse in James that talks about the fervent prayer of a righteous man accomplishing a bunch? well I think if you come along in this adventure, you're going to be surprised by just how much a whole bunch is.

If you're coming with me, just say "Amen."

  1. If we are not careful we can make the statement "I'm praying for you" as casual as "How are you and have a good day." It can become such a ritual if we are not careful. When it seems appropriate I like to pray with someone right on the spot. I have noticed when I do I pray for them later without even thinking about it later.
