In the midst of the same sex marriage debate, my husband had this to say, and I'd like to pass it on to you. It isn't long, but it is important. It's for the Christians who are up in arms today....
To my brothers and sisters in Christ,
Do you want to put an end to homosexuality? Stop abortions from ever taking another baby's life? Get porn off the billboards and off the televisions? Get drugs out of and away from our playgrounds?
Then quit moaning about it on Capitol Hill.
Jesus said, very plainly, "My kingdom is not of this world" (John 18:36). America is not the promised land. She's the most beautiful country in the world, she's a precious jewel of freedom bought by the blood of her military, and I love her, faults and all. But her job is to free me as a citizen, it has never been her job to free my soul.
We will never beat sin by passing laws or casting votes. Even if its illegal, people will still do it. The only weapon against sin is the blood of Jesus Christ.
Don't make laws. Spread grace. Spread love. Spread justice. Spread mercy. Spread truth.
Spread Jesus.
And when enough of our people know Him, our government will know Him too.
We do care what the Bible says about the current issue at hand, but that is not the point. We know that as long as there are people in the world who are not following God, there will be decisions made that we do not like. People say that the United States of America is going to pot, well maybe it is, but its going to pot with the rest of the world, and it's time we Christians stop getting distracted and do something about it.
How do we fix the problem? Some brothers and sister say the answer is in the picket line and in the voting booth. Some have taken to complaining while others have taken to debate. We believe the answer is to stick to our battleground. We believe we have to stick to the mission given to us by our leader himself, Jesus Christ. He told us all when he left our world to "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel...." Brothers and sisters, let's not forget our first and most important job: winning souls. First of all, we should do it because our leader told us to. But secondly, the more Christians in the world, the more Christians there will be in Washington.
The Bible tells us that we don't fight against issues and people and stuff we can see, but against spiritual forces we cannot see. We are fighting against dark and evil spirits in high places. (Eph 6). This whole mess is NOT about same-sex marriage or abortion, or any of these other issues.
This whole mess is about Satan fighting against God since the beginning of time. He's been trying since the day God made people to get them away from God and in cahoots with him. This whole this is about us, his people, the ones who have believed on the name of Jesus Christ, remembering who our leader is.
So, brothers and sisters, let's rally up the troops cause we are in the thick of it. Now is not the time to take up slogans and get involved in many battles. We have one mission: save souls. The battlefield we are on is incredibly noisy. The enemy makes it so on purpose. He wants us to get distracted from our leader and from our battle cry. Why? Because Satan knows that our battle cry, when touted all together has incredible power. He is terrified of the greater Spirit God's people have inside of them, inside of you, and me.
So stand up Christians! We are in a battle! wake up and remember the battle cry! Stop shouting "God Hates Gays" stop shouting "God hates America!" We can shout "Save the babies" or "One Man One Woman" till we are blue in the face, but until we start using the right ammunition, we will keep losing the battle.
I once heard it said, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results."
well the same is true here. What we're doing isn't working. Let's do what we were meant to do in the first place. Christians we are running out of time. People need Jesus and we need to take him to them. Put on the armor of God. Let's spread the message that our leader gave us to the world before it's too late.
"JESUS SAVES!!" is our battle cry
