Someone is Always Watching...

It really is amazing what people will do when they think that no one is looking or listening.
A couple days ago, I was standing in the shampoo aisle, trying to decide between Garnier Frutis Volume Boost and Tresume Anti-Breakage, when someone on the other side of the aisle thought they were alone, and deflated their whoopie cushion. I was a bit embarassed for the person. How were they supposed to know that while they discreetly scooted their booty into the dog food to disguise their flatulent pose, someone else was on the other side of the shelf close enough to hear the wind they broke! A word to the wise: when gassy in the grocery store, remember that shelving doesn't mask sounds...someone is always listening. Albeit most times, simply by accident, but someone will always hear you.

Another time, I stopped at a light in the middle of the day. A fancy-shmancy, high-falootin' Escalade pulled up next to me and stopped. It was so nice and that it was almost insulting my hand-me-down station wagon. The driver was one of those chic dressers, one of those gals who brought Rodeo Drive back home in their suitcase last time they went out. She was very attractive, but just one thing was off. She'd just forgotten that her windows weren't tinted and it was broad daylight! I never knew a person could lose so much of their finger inside their nose...If only she remembered that just because you're in your car doesn't mean that you're invisible!

Maybe the flatulent grocery store patron had a tummy ache. Maybe the gold digging model got a mosquito up her nose and was just desperately trying to get it out. You never know the reasons behind a person's impropriety. So, everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt, but these unsuspecting folks have made me think twice about doing anything in public that I'd rather no one see or hear! They made me remember: someone is always watching...or listening.

  2. Laura, what's one thing that happened to you in public that people may have been embarrassed for you about?

    1. Tina, I've done all the same things I've written about and more. That's why I don't feel bad about writing it.
